My Real Friend, by Julio Bonilla

What I am about to tell you today is not a story.  I am telling you the truth. A lot of bad things have happened to a lot of inmates, including me, so I want you to know the reality that I now know.

I have learned that I have only one honest, loyal and faithful Friend in my life.  It has taken me way too long to learn this truth.  He is the only one who has been on my side this whole time.  I am so thankful that He did not abandon me and leave me all alone in this lonely place, where 95% of us in prison feel abandoned by our friends in society.

My real Friend has saved me from death so many times.  Yes, I am in prison, but at least my name is not on a tombstone! Oh, there have been times when I have wished that my name was on a tombstone.  But my Friend tells me, “Soon you will have more than you wish for in this life”.  He is the only one who knows and sees what is going on in my heart and in my mind.

Dear Friend, I am sorry that for not giving You more of my time on the streets like I do here in prison.  You have taken all the bad things and turned them into good things for me.  You have shown me that no one in this world is loyal like you are!

Do you wish to have a Friend like mine?  All you have to do is call His name; Jesus Christ.  My God is my loyal Friend, and he can be yours, too.  Thanks to Him, I have peace in my life!  May all of you who read this testimony of my personal experience be blessed.

I thank all of my brothers and sisters in Christ for their prayers.  Thanks, too, for reading my testimony.  All opinions and comments are welcomed; just send them to me at my address below.

Your brother in Christ
