Peace Perspective, by Alexis Rodriguez

Shalom, is a very beautiful word in Hebrew, from the root “to be safe” (mind, body, estate). Furthermore, its rich meaning consists of health, prosperity, be well and (at) rest, to be completed. To speak it over someone was considered a blessing and to withhold this salutation was to curse. I believe that Jesus operated from the sphere of Shalom, always enjoying a perpetual Sabbath rest, even while at work. I believe He enjoyed life effortlessly. No, I’m not implying that Jesus did nothing– but rather that He did all things at ease and without a care. When He expulsed demons, He did it with the finger of God. When He walked on water, it was without a second thought. When the storms of life arrived as if to cause a stir, He was not fazed, but asleep on a pillow inside a boat.  It was not until He was awakened and asked by the disciples “Master, don’t you CARE that we are perishing”? Of course His response to the Hurricane and the storm brewing within His beloved friends was, “Peace, be still”. Is there a storm in your life or in your heart that YOU need to speak to? Peace, to the news from the doctor. Peace, to the notice from you landlord. Peace, to the chaos that exterior forces try to bring on you! Do not be fazed from the sphere of Shalom. When visiting his friends Mary and Martha, Jesus is confronted with two different agendas. Mary chose to learn at the feet of Jesus, breaking with protocol and status quo. Martha on the other hand was distracted and swayed by much serving. She too used the CARE card in trying to remove Jesus from Shalom. She said, “Lord, do you not CARE that my sister has left me to serve all alone”? Have the cares of this world distracted you and impacted your peace?  As a believer, your should be at peace, for the Comforter has come representing and acting on behalf of Christ. Draw to memory all the promises of God in Christ Jesus which are in His word.  Jesus said, “My peace [prosperity, rest] I leave with you”.  Amen. by Alexis Rodriguez You can write to me at this address:
